Sedation Dentistry Near You

Sedation dentistry allows us to help our patients who have difficulty visiting the dentist get access to the treatment they need for better oral health. We offer two options for sedation: Nitrous oxide gas, which helps our patients feel comfortable before the procedure begins and wears off quickly once the procedure ends, and oral sedation, a pill that is taken before the appointment and takes time to wear off.

People who may be good candidates for sedation dentistry include:

9
People who have anxiety visiting the dentist.
9
Individuals who have had traumatic dental experiences.
9
Individuals who have difficulty getting numb with a local anesthetic.
9
Those with a bad gag reflex or very sensitive teeth.
9
People who have complex dental problems.
9
Individuals who require lengthy procedures or multiple procedures in a single sitting.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide is often called laughing gas and is used in dentistry to help anxious patients feel more relaxed during dental procedures. The gas is administered with a comfortable nasal mask, and the effects can be felt within a few minutes, relaxing a patient without rendering him or her unconscious. When the procedure is over, we will switch to providing you with pure oxygen, which eliminates the effects of the nitrous oxide from the body within minutes.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is administered through oral pills taken in advance of your dental appointment. This method helps you relax before, during, and after your scheduled procedure. Oral sedation is an easy and safe method that requires a prescription from our dental professionals. After the procedure is complete, you won’t remember many details about your visit. Because oral sedation does not wear off as quickly as nitrous oxide, this option requires you to have a ride to and from the appointment.
